Back to the Real World...

This is officially my last day of maternity leave. I go back to work full-time tomorrow. I had taken 8 full weeks off, and just went back part-time for these past few weeks. When they say it goes fast; it sure does. I'm gonna miss waking up in the mornings feeding my baby, napping with him, catchin up on my talk shows, and just plain being lazy! Atleast now I will get to shower before 1:00 though. :) Duke has been going to his babysitter's the past few weeks when I have worked - he seems to be getting along very good with her. She is the g-ma type - full of attention to him. I think my parent's will still keep him a couple afternoons through the week, so they don't go into withdrawal. It's nice to have them so close to help out. It's been quite an adjustment getting a newborn up and ready to go anywhere. It has made me an early riser - we are on time for everything now! Kinda rediculous! :) Here are just some recent photos of the Dukester...
What an awnery smirk!
Loves his Bumbo! Did i mention we have discovered the tongue?!! lol
watchin t.v.

Duke loves his swing Jason and I got him for X-mas. It matches his little lamb bouncy seat!
I still loves my dogs too: Lexee and Lyzee!!

Grandpa Corrick:

Jason's Grandpa Corrick passed away on January 15th - he was 79 years old. (would have been 80 on Jan. 16th)
He had suffered from Alzheimer's Disease for the past 7+ years. Right before Christmas we had visited him in the nursing home and had this picture taken with Duke. We are so glad we were able to do this beforehand.
Here we have 4 generations of Corrick Men.

RECAP - 2010 HIGHLIGHTS

Our BEST Year So Far!!!
In January, my Grandma Probasco turned 90 years old. What a milestone! I can only hope that I live that long. I think about all life's changes this woman has encountered through 90 years - Amazing!

Also in January, my husband had a big birthday as well. He turned the big 3-0! I threw Jason a surprise birthday party with all of his friends gathering at the Dukum. They all signed this poster of him when he was in elementary school. So stinkin' cute!
I hope Duke looks just like him here!

Jason and I
Me and Kalee at Jason's B-day
In February, we laid to rest our beloved Ace. We had him for 5+ years.
Jason buried him over the hill in our field.
Im March, my mother had a big birthday also. She turned 60. And I might add my dad turned 60 the December before; and Kalee had her 30th b-day the November before. Lots of big birthdays in my family this year.
Kalee and I had arranged for all the girls in my family to take a weekend trip to Kansas City. We all stayed at Kalee's house and shopped, ate, shopped, and ate.....

First pony from Grandma and Grandpa Sayre - I think we have a while before we start galloping.
That's it - another year flown by!
I hope to stay up on my blog a little better this year!

Changing by the day...

This is the day we brought Duke home from the hospital - it was also opening day of deer season. We got home later in the afternoon; Jason informed me he had never missed an opening day of deer season, EVER! He had 45 minutes of daylight left, so he ran right behind our house to hunt til dusk. I had Duke sportin' his camo when daddy returned! How cute are they?!!

Duke ready to go for his first Dr. appt. What a STUD!
This is the cradle that Duke sleeps in right now; until he is bigger, then we will put him in his crib. This cradle was my Grandpa Probasco's. He was born in 1910 - it's 100 years old this year. My mother inherited this; many of my aunts, uncles, and cousins have slept in the cradle as well. So Special.

I think this picture is just the sweetest! Duke's Great-Grandma Probasco crocheted this afghan for him.

Isn't he quite the charmer! He already knows how to say "I Love You" in sign language!!

Welcoming Our New Addition

Here are Duke's Grandma and Grandpa Sayre greeting him into the world.
Auntie Kalee has spoiled him rotten!
So Neat: One of our nurses gave Jason and I tatoos of Duke's footprint.

Here is Grandma Donna holding Duke.

Duke's First Play Date

Me with my good friend, Alaina at her baby shower in October. She was due with her baby boy about 2 weeks before me.

Alaina ended up having Baby Wren on November 15th. (4 days AFTER Duke!)
They're gonna be good buddies!

INTRODUCING...

DUKE WILLIAM CORRICK

7.1 POUNDS - 21.25 INCHES

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 11TH, 2010
AT 5:01 P.M.

~ Jason and I finally became proud parents of a baby boy born on Thursday, November 11th, 2010! We named him Duke William Corrick. What a strong, bold name he has! Duke gets to carry on both of his grandpa's names - "William" is after my dad, Bill; and of course "Corrick" is a name following many men that he too will carry down the line as well! Duke decided to come 10 days early-which I had thanked him for! My birthday is November 14th and he was the greatest birthday gift I could have hoped for! He looks so much like his daddy, but once in a great while he will resemble myself. Lots of dark hair this boy has too!

Just a little info about the labor and delivery:
I woke up late Wednesday night about midnight having contractions. I wasn't for sure if it was the real deal or not so I had called the hospital - they recommended me to come in so we got there about 2a.m. thurs. morning. Well, it was the REAL deal! They got me hooked up to the monitors, had solid contractions every 5 minutes until about 11a.m. thurs. morning. At that time I had become dilated enough to receive the epidural. The anes. had trouble finding the correct space in my back - after a whole hour of hit and miss - they found it! Thank the Lord! And then 3 times it took the nursing staff and Dr.'s to attempt to break my water. Needless to say, my body wasn't being too cooperative. I have to thank my husband though, for being so strong to hold me up as I was leaning all weight on him for the hour of receiving my epidural! Bless him!!Dr. Early was present at the hospital early that morning to see me; unfortunately he had to leave town, so I was taken under the care of Dr. Boling for my delivery! He is such a nice man, and made our experience so comfortable as well. Finally, at 5:01p.m. our baby made his debue into the world! What a relief!! Healthy and Handsome - what more could we ask for?!
